Thank you for choosing to learn about where we came from, a long long time ago some say that Northern Acchord was formed over a tripe supper but we now know that this is merely a romantic dream truth be known that the band of merry man came together after five members of Calder Valley Spirit of Harmony decided
that rather than travel to darkest yorkshire every thursday that they could set up a local chorus in Teesside, so in the late summer of 2003 together with the help of some friends from other choruses in the area they set up Northern Acchord, initially under the direction of Les McGhee, and was latterly for a short spell under the tutelage and direction of Dr Jean Sutton, Northern Acchord was eventually accepted into the BABS family as an official member in the Autumn of 2004, so you may be excused as to thinking we are a relatively young chorus and all though this is true we have many members with over 25 years experience as Barbershoppers!!!.

We as a chorus pride ourselves on making a good impretion on people where ever our hobbie takes us, we have visited our friends in the north at harmony junction on three seperate occasions from 2005 to 2007, which was always held at the Atholl Palace Hotel at pitlochry in Scotland, which is as grand and lavish as it sounds, we have made many great friends on our travels including our very own BABS Chairman Bill Harvey who is a fully affillated member of our chorus!!.

We have also regularly attended Ryton music fesitival and recently had a quartet come away as champs!!!!!!!!!!!

Since our birth we have lost some members, some sadly no longer with us and gained some new members in particular we had a very successful "learn to sing course in september of 2006 which saw us blossom from 13 to 22, from the resurgence of members in 2006 we have since competed for the first time at th national convention for barbershop singers in cheltenham 2008, in front of 2000 plus audience we gave it our best shot, the photo's below are pre event and also during the competition.

Our recent learn to sing course has been a tremendous success with 59 people turning up on the first night, we have lost the usual 20% but we have hit the jackpot for talent and commitment, these people have gelled with tremendous accuracy and speed and I look forward to singing with them all on the final night this Tuesday, below is a picture of us and hopefully our new members.
