Having spent 22 years singing Barbershop with various choruses, I find that the last 2 – 3 years have the most exciting and rewarding of my “career”.
I’m talking of course about the foundation and development of Tees Valley BHC.
After three “learn to sing” courses we have now developed from a chorus of 12 to a chorus of 41 – a pretty staggering achievement. To add to that we are moving soon to a new rehearsal venue in a local community arts college which will help us to swell our membership even more and become an active member of the performing arts community in Teesside and the surrounding area. 2008 was an important year for us – we began doing public performances and we competed at convention for the first time. We see these as major stepping stones in the development of the chorus.
We enjoyed convention so much that we are doing it all again in 2010 at Harrogate (the nearest we get to a home venue!).
